A man in Ngarutuko village, Baringo County, is on the run after he allegedly threw his five-month-old baby in a raging fire.
The Katakon Primary School headteacher reportedly tossed the toddler on fire after repeatedly insisting that the child is not his, and that he was born out of wedlock.
According to the mother of the baby, his husband came back home drunk on Sunday night and started causing drama.
He accused his wife of cheating on him with other men, to an extend of siring a child. “This child is not ours. We don’t have such ears in my lineage. He will definitely die, he will not survive,” he used to tell his wife.
His face was on fire
“He wanted to kill my child. He lifted his leg up wanting to step on his stomach, I begged him not to do it. I even offered him food,” the wife told TV47
“I ran to close the door and on coming back I found my baby facing down, his face on fire,” she added.
The baby is currently receiving treatment at the Baringo County Referral Hospital.
Baringo County children’s officer Irene Chepkwony confirms that the unfortunate incident has been reported to the police. The police are yet to arrest him.
