John Muturi Keneyia, who has been going by the name Francis Ngugi, 39, appearing virtually before Magistrate Patricia Gichohi. He was also charged with assault and robbery with violence.
Ngugi allegedly confessed to DCI detectives that he had raped and robbed more than 100 victims, “but only committed one murder.”
The court heard that since his arrest, several of his alleged victims have been crawling out of the woodwork with more revealing details. Two more reports were filed against him at the Karuri Police Station where he being held.
One of these reports indicates that Ngugi allegedly murdered a woman who was his “lover” in Wangige area, Kiambu County, before going underground. The other, filed by a pregnant woman, alleges that he assaulted her.
Ngugi was arrested by Karuri-based officers in collaboration with DCI in Mai Mahiu area, Nakuru County, following reports by four women – including a 15-year-old girl.
Karuri police boss Cecilia Kemboi said he was positively identified by the complainants.
Ngugi would reportedly tricking his victims that he could assist them secure employment as house helps. He would then take them to desolate plantations, rape and steal from them.
Police allege that in some instances, he could call his victims’ families and demand for ransom.
Police are calling on women who may have fallen victim to Ngugi to report at the nearest police station.
