Two suspects arrested in connection with the fake currencies in Kilimani, Nairobi, will now spend five more days in police custody to allow officers conclude investigations.
Kibera Law courts Senior Principal Magistrate Philip Mutua granted the officers more time to conclude collecting evidence in the case against Simon Maina Wakaba and Boniface Mungai Mwaura.
Investigating Officer Stephen Kibei told the court the suspects were arrested at Makaazi Apartment after being found in possession of KSh805.7m in fake currencies. Kibei and other officers recovered the fake money in six locked steel boxes, and several steel safes.
The ‘money’ was in dollars, Euros and Kenya shillings. Police also recovered two bottles of an unknown fluid and a reflective jacket.
The suspects will be back in court on May 4.
