A section of leaders from Siaya County were on Friday, April 30 forced to flee for their safety after a group of goon attacked them in a function in Alego Usonga.
According to a police report filed at Bar Orongo Police Station, the leaders- Siaya Senator James Orengo, MPs Otiende Amollo (Rarieda), Sam Atandi (Alego Usonga) and Aduma Owuor(Nyakach)- were attending a political function at Nyanganga Primary School grounds.
The meeting had just began when one of MP Atandi’s political opponents, Nicholas Kut Ochogo, allegedly arrived in the company of goons.
The goons started throwing stones, chairs and tables to the lawmakers,”says the police report.
The leaders were forced to flee for their chopper but the goons pelted it with stones as it was taking off.
“The helicopter 5Y-MHL was slightly damaged on the blade and the left hand door. The security officers of Hon. Atandi fired on the air to disperse the goons,” reads the police report.
Police have visited the scene of crime and pictures of the helicopter taken as investigations continue.
