The operation of restaurants and eateries in the Counties of Nairobi, Nakuru, Kiambu, Kajiado and Machakos will resume effective midnight Saturday, May 1.
Making the announcement during Labour Day Celebrations at State House, President Uhuru Kenyatta said that the decision to allow operation of restaurants had been informed by the decreasing COVID-19 infections in the zoned areas.
The restaurants shall resume operations but in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines issued jointly by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Tourism.
The facilities have been advised to utilise outdoor spaces so as to maximise physical and social distancing, in a bid to further curb the spread of coronavirus.
Bar owners have also been given a lifeline after President Uhuru ordered that they should operate until 7 pm.
