President Uhuru Kenyatta on Saturday, May 1 lifted the cessation of movement into and out of the Zoned Areas.
Speaking during the Labour Day Celebrations at State House, President Uhuru said that COVID-19 caseload has gone down in the counties of Nairobi, Nakuru, Kajiado, Machakos and Kiambu, therefore informing his decision to lift the ban on movement.
According to Ministry of Health records, Nairobi’s COVID-19 caseload in the month of April decreased by 74 percent, with the same trend seen in the other zoned areas.
Uhuru has also revised curfew hours in the zoned areas. Effective midnight Saturday, curfew will be enforced from 10 pm until 4 am in the five counties, just like the rest of the country.
In-person worship shall also resume, although the attending congregation is still capped to 1/3rd of the capacity of the place of worship.
