It is now clear that Manchester United fans’ protests are not just about the European Super League. The fans want the Glazer family, which has controlled the club since 2005, to relinquish its stake.
Angry fans are currently staging a protest against the club’s owners after forcing their way into the Old Trafford stadium.
Thousands of supporters had gathered outside the stadium to demonstrate ahead of Liverpool FC’s visit. Manchester United was among the six EPL sides that had joined the controversial European Super League, but retracted their move.
Amid all the chaos, some fans broke down barriers, went into the 74,000 capacity stadium and ran onto the pitch. Some even climbed the goalposts.
The fans had earlier on blocked the entrance to the team’s hotel, but police repulsed them.
