The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party on Tuesday, May 4 kicked out MP Otiende Amollo from the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee of the National Assembly.
The orange party has replaced the Rarieda MP with his Ruaraka counterpart TJ Kajwang.
National Assembly Minority Leader and ODM Chairperson John Mbadi says the changes in the committee is meant to realign it with ODM and NASA coalition’s aspirations.
“We are aligning the committee with the aspirations of ODM and NASA coalition. Tom Joseph Kajwang is joining… he may not be a professor in law, but he is the people’s chief justice. He is well versed in legal matters and I wish him well in that committee,” said Mbadi, who is the MP for Suba South Constituency.
According to MP Amollo, there are schemers in ODM who want him out of the powerful committee. “The Vicissitudes Of Politics. So, The Schemers Want Me Out Of JLAC. I Will Take It In Grace & Stride.”
Otiende is currently the Deputy Chairman of the JLAC. The Kangema MP Muturi Kigano-led committee deliberated on the Constitution of Kenya (Amendments) Bill, 2020 popularly known as BBI Bill.
ODM Chairperson John Mbadi says the changes will be made in today’s National Assembly sitting.
