Law Society of Kenya President Nelson Havi has declared interest in the Westlands Parliamentary seat.
According to the lawyer, he has decided to vie for the elective seat in next year’s general election after being approached by Westlands residents.
“I have accepted the request of the People of Westlands Constituency to serve them and the Nation in that [MP] capacity effective August, 2022 or earlier if Parliament is dissolved,” says Havi.
Havi exudes confidence that he is the best candidate for the position because he is conversant with the functions and duties of a member of parliament.
“The Constitution enumerates functions and duties of a Member of National Assembly thus: making laws and protecting the Constitution; determining allocation of national revenue and oversight of its expenditure; reviewing conduct of State officers and oversight of State organs; and infrastructural development, wealth creation and poverty alleviation at the constituency level,” he adds.
Havi to battle Xtian Dela
Social media influencer Arthur Mandela, alias Xtian Dela, has also declared that he will vie for the Westlands Parliamentary seat in 2022.
Current MP, Orange Democratic Movement’s Tim Wanyonyi has already expressed his desire to vie for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat.
