Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham‘s girlfriend Leah Monroe took to social media to slam Blues boss Thomas Tuchel for dropping the England International in the FA Cup final against Leicester City.
Being among the top scorers in the FA Cup this season, Abraham had high hopes of making it in the starting lineup against Leicester, but he did not make even the bench.
Tuchel’s decision attracted much criticism from football pundits, fans and the striker’s girlfriend who did not hide her frustrations.
“How on earth do you make the decision to leave your top goalscorer out of the squad for a final?” posted Monroe on her IG stories, before later deleting the message.
“The same person who even scored the goals to actually qualify for this competition? It’s not making any sense whatsoever. Not even the bench?! This has to be a joke,” Monroe added.
Abraham and Monroe have dated for eight years. He scored the only goal of the game when Chelsea beat Barnsley in the fifth round in February to advance to the quarter-finals.
Despite lacking game time since Tuchel took over from Lampard, the 23-year-old is the club’s joint-top scorer this season on 12 in all competitions, the same number as Timo Werner.
Tuchel opted for the German international who wasted four glorious opportunities as Chelsea went on to lose 1-0 to the foxes at the Wembley stadium. The two sides shall meet again on Tuesday in the Premier League action in a battle to cement a spot in the top four.
