A 17-year-old polytechnic student last night slit the throat of a 33-year-old man who had entrapped him in his house to discipline him for allegedly sleeping with this wife.
The incident at Mirera village, Naivasha, left the residents in shock. They are now asking how the two who were said to be family friends turned against one another in such cruel fashion.
The deceased, a father of one, separated with his wife last year. He was suspecting that his wife was having an affair with the young man-identified as Dennis- who is a student at Mirera Polytechnic. In a devious plot to silence the young man, he lured him to his house with a lucrative promise to deliver some art work in Nairobi. For the effort, Dennis would get KSh10,000.
Upon entering the house, jilted husband locked the door from inside and changed the narrative of the mission. He asked Dennis to undertake a certain undisclosed task in Nairobi involving the estranged wife. She had relocated there with their four-year-old child.
Dennis refused to execute the said mission, whereupon a fierce confrontation ensued between the two. The jilted husband reportedly snatched a knife from the single-roomed house’s cooking area and announced his real motive.
Using quick reflexes, Dennis snatched the knife and turned it on his assailant, slitting his throat and killing him instantly. Neighbours responded to the commotion and threatened to lynch the young man as Naivasha police arrived in the nick of time and saved him.
Witnesses said the young man had relocated to Naivasha only this January, to start his Mechanical courses at the polytechnic. His mother works at Oserian Flower Company, and so did the slain victim. This is how Dennis came to know the man and his 32-year-old wife.
Dennis confessed to having a romantic relationship with the said woman. He said she occasionally visited him, and he reciprocated by going for dinner at her house.
Police at the scene collected evidence including the murder weapon. The murder suspect was arrested while the body of the deceased was taken to the Naivasha Level 5 Hospital mortuary.
