President Uhuru Kenyatta’s security was not under threat whatsoever when a man momentarily brought his motorcade to a stop in Lucky Summer, Nairobi County, on Wednesday, May 26.
According to Government Spokesperson Cyrus Oguna, the man in question was posing no danger to the Head of State, and was only excited to see President Uhuru’s motorcade.
“On 26 May 2021, an individual stepped in front of the Presidential motorcade during the President’s tour at Lucky Summer, Nairobi county.
“The individual is a citizen who was only excited to see the motorcade His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta. We wish to allay any fears that the President’s security was under threat,” said Oguna.
Man causes a stir
President Uhuru was on his way to officially launch the ultra-modern Neema slaughterhouse, when a middle-aged person who was among the excited residents at the roadside jumped in front of his motorcade.
He attempted to wave down the President’s official car, a Toyota Land Cruiser V8, among the motorcade, causing a temporary stop.
The security detail, who at this time were caught by surprise, sprung to the man and forcefully grabbed him and pushed him out of the road.

Oguna now says that action will not be taken against the unarmed man, as he was just excited and wanted the President’s attention.
