Manhunt launched in Kirinyaga for Sunday School teacher who allegedly defiled class five pupil

Police in Kirinyaga County have launched a manhunt for a 54-year-old man who allegedly defiled a Class Five pupil at Muthigini village, Gichugu Constituency.

Gichugu police boss Anthony Mbogo says the suspect is a Sunday School teacher at a local church. The minor is also a member of the said church.

The girl’s parents informed police that the suspect lured her to his house last Tuesday when she was on an errand at a local maize mill.

It was her grandmother who realised that she had difficulties walking after, and upon inquiry, she narrated what had happened to her. Her kin took her to hospital, where she received treatment.

Mbogo says over 10 cases of defilement have been reported in the area within a month. He is urging parents to be cautious, and at the same time is promising stern actions against the perpetrators of this crime.
