Light aircraft crashes in Taita, two feared dead

A light fixed-wing aircraft crashed at Vuria Hill, Wundanyi subcounty, Taita Taveta County, last evening. Two people on board are feared dead.

Coast Regional Police Commander Paul Ndambuki said rescue services responded to a loud bang that was heard at around 8pm.

Reports indicate that the plane was flying to Mombasa from Arusha, Tanzania. It crashed at Mwangeka Caves due to bad weather.

Vuria Hill rises at 2,228 metres above sea level. It is the highest point in the Coast region.
