The hospital’s Superintendent Dr. Jessie Ngugi revealed that the baby was brought at the hospital by his mother Ann Nyangi and stepfather Daniel Njoroge on Monday evening.
The parents reportedly told the doctor that the child had a fever and was vomiting. Upon examination, however, Dr. Ngugi noticed that the child bore injuries all over his body.
Curious, he conducted an X-ray on the baby, which revealed that his hands and one leg were fractured.
Dr. Ngugi said that the minor was recuperating, and would be handed over to the county’s children’s office after discharge.
The baby had bite marks
Thika town police boss Mohammed Kofah said that the Njoroge, 21, and Nyangi, suspected to be 18 years old, were apprehended at the hospital.
“It is really absurd that the couple did that to their own kid. He also has human bites in his cheeks and back. The scratches on his back are so deep,” Kofah revealed.
He urged their neighbours to provide information that could assist in the investigations.
The two have reportedly been married for three months. They are expected to appear in court today(Tuesday).
