Charles King’ori the suspect behind baby Liam Ngucwa Mwangi’s kidnapping was yesterday arrested by DCI detectives after a dramatic chase in the streets of Naivasha town.
King’ori alias Delvin Maina, had visited a salon in the town to have his hair braided in an attempt to conceal his identity. “Detectives were however too smart for the suspect’s antics, since they pounced on him as he escaped on a getaway motorbike,” says DCI.
Four-year-old Liam was kidnapped from his grandparent’s home on June 2. Panic-stricken parents sought his whereabouts through all means possible.
“The distraught parents and relatives had in an online appeal that went viral, asked Kenyans to volunteer any information they may have had, regarding their son’s whereabouts,” DCI said while announcing that the baby had been found. They then launched a manhunt for King’ori, who was the family’s houseboy and prime suspect.
“His arrest follows stealth and relentless efforts by the investigators, to ensure that the perpetrator does not enjoy a single day of freedom again, to torment innocent children and their families,” added DCI.
