Police officers from Ekerenyo Police Station in Nyamira County, have launched a manhunt for two prisoners who fled from a police officer while being escorted to the toilet.
The two, who were escorted by police constable Michael Sifuna, managed to unlock the handcuffs and fled on Monday at around 4.30 pm.
Abdul Hassan, who hails from Kariobangi in Nairobi County, had been arrested on allegations of committing a crime of malicious damage. Jared Getangi, from Ekerenyo, had been arrested for being in possession of government property.
The two had allegedly gone to relieve themselves at a pit latrine located 50 metres from the police station.
Efforts by police officers to hunt them down have so far bore no fruit.
The officers are now urging members of the public to provide any information that will help in their apprehension.
