Police in Kericho have launched a manhunt for a Form three student at Ainamoi Secondary school who allegedly attacked the Principal with a plank of wood on the head .
Kericho County Police Commander Silas Gichunge says the 18-year-old student hit Godfrey Rono with the piece of wood which had a long nail at the tip. The student was reportedly annoyed by the Principal’s request to clear a KSh7,000 school fees balance.
Police allege that the Principal had ordered that the student`s locker be forfeited until he clears the fee balance.
Soon after the attack, fellow students who witnessed the incident raised an alarm prompting the onlookers to rush to the scene. They took the injured Principal, who was bleeding profusely, to hospital. He was treated and discharged.
Some of the students intimated that the suspect often threatened teachers with violence.
Recently, Education CS George Magoha asked all school heads to ensure parents clear their pending fees.
