A woman is accusing Dr Mukhisa Kituyi, presidential hopeful and former United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) boss, of assault after she allegedly rebuffed his sexual advances.
Diana Opemi Lutta claims Kituyi attacked her a five star hotel in Mombasa last month. She reported the alleged assault at Nyali Police Station under OB Number 10/22/05/2021. Diana claims to be Kituyi’s girlfriend.
“Assault report to the station by one Diana Opemi Lutta (who) has submitted a report today the 22nd day of May 2021, at around 0200 hours. She has been assaulted by a person known to her within Tamarind Village, namely Mukhisa Kituyi whom she claims to be her boyfriend,” read the report.
On the said day of the assault, the politician allegedly pushed the lady from a bed as he rained blows on her. She allegedly fell and injured her knee.
“Police advised her to seek medical attention for further police action after she was issued with a P3 form which was later filled at the Coast General Hospital,” the police report adds.
Dr Kituyi confirmed that a report against him had been made to the police. “Someone had written a report claiming l had assaulted her but it was not true,” he is quoted by the People Daily as saying. “I’ve never beaten any woman in my life nor do I intend to ever do it at any given time. We sorted out the case and it was withdrawn.”
Nyali OCS Albert Chebii however told the paper that the matter “is still under investigation.”
Kituyi who resigned as UNCTAD Secretary General in February 2021 to pursue his political ambitions visited the coast region last month in a bid to sell his 2022 candidature.
