A couple in southwest England is planning to walk down the isle for a second time, after the ‘man’ revealed that he was transgender during their honeymoon.
Rayna, 33 (previously Jake), and Jae Harvey, 30, tied the note in 2018, but during their honeymoon, the former revealed that he was transgender and that he would love to identify as a woman.
Jae was very supportive and encouraged Rayna to go ahead and seek a orchiectomy (to remove his testicles), facial surgery and augmentation mammoplasty (to increase his breast size). The transformation surgeries cost £45,000 (KSh6.8 million), a decision she does not regret.
Now identifying as female, she changed her name to Jake from Ryna. Jae says she is proud of her partner thus the reason why they are planning a “re-wedding”.
“Looking back at our first wedding, I feel a ‘disconnect’ because Rayna wasn’t there, I want to feel like it’s Rayna I married,” she told a British newspaper. The couple plans to wed in September this year.
“What I want more than anything is for her family to see her walk down the aisle and for her to have her day. I got to have mine with all my bells and whistles, so now it’s her turn,” she added.
They will wed in black dresses to compliment an all black and white theme. The wedding according Jae will symbolise the death of an old Rayna and the re-birth of a new one.
