A man was on Friday, June 11 arraigned in court over charges of assaulting a waitress and a butcher at a restaurant after he was asked to clear the bills.
Kenneth Murithi Njagi allegedly assaulted Pascalia Joakim at a bar in Lang’ata, Nairobi County, on June 4, 2021.
The court heard that Njagi insulted Pascalia by terming her a prostitute and thief at the bar.
On that day, the suspect reportedly visited the bar, where he ordered for drinks, and was served by Pascalia. However, when it was time to pay for the bills, Njagi allegedly turned violent on the waitress, and hurled insults at her.
Butcher claims similar treatment as waitress
Njagi reportedly went further and reported the waitress to the bar’s management. Upon investigations, however, the tables turned on him as he was arrested and arraigned in court.
One of the witnesses, who is a butcher at the bar, testified in court, insisting that he received similar treatment from the suspect.
He told the court that Njagi beat him up when he asked him to pay for the meat he bought from the butchery.
Njagi denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of KSh50,000. The court adjourned the case to June 17.
