Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen has collapsed to the field in the first half of his national team’s game against Finland at Euro 2020 on Saturday, June 12.
The Inter Milan midfielder was jogging near the sidelines in opposition’s half in the 42nd minute when he appeared to stumble and then fall forward.
Eriksen’s teammates promptly sensed danger, waving frantically at the medical team to attend to him.
Distressed players, some of whom were in tears, formed a circle around Eriksen as the medical team performed chest compression on him.
Both teams have left the field with officials holding up sheets to hide the 29-year-old player from the view of the 16,000 fans inside the stadium in Copenhagen.
Denmark captain Simon Kjær and goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel were seen consoling Eriksen’s wife.
The game has been brought to a halt.
UEFA has since said that Eriksen has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised.
