A Form Three student in Bunyala West Constituency, Busia County, has been arrested after he allegedly murdered his father upon being probed about his studies.
In what was supposed to be a normal Sunday evening family dinner, the suspect’s father allegedly began probing his son about his lack of concentration in his academics.
Brother to the deceased, Alfred Mukhisa, says he was called to the scene, unaware of what had transpired.
“We began enquiring about the death of my brother, his wife told us that the deceased questioned his son about his studies which prompted the son to pounce on his father with blows,” Mukhisa narrated.
In the altercation that had allegedly occurred a couple of times at their home, the angry 21-year-old reportedly beat his father to death.
Friends and family of the deceased say that the deceased frequently quarreled with his son when he was drunk, which angered his son.
According to their account, the deceased reprimanded his son for his involvement in the sugarcane business instead of focusing solely on his studies.
The suspect was arrested and taken into custody at the Navakholo Police Station.
