Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has given police officers an ultimatum of 48 hours to investigate and arrest perpetrators behind the torching of a chief’s house in Temoyota location in Kuresoi North, Nakuru County.
The incident was highlighted by PS Karanja Kibicho who said that the arson case was a ‘retaliation’ plan against the chief, who has reportedly been staunch in fighting crime in the area.
“On this spot in Kuresoi North, a house belonging to one of our chiefs stood, but now there are ashes. It was set ablaze by criminals unhappy with his straightforwardness and integrity,” Kibicho said on Monday.
Matiang’i promises to root out criminals
CS Matiang’i further assured that security forces were probing the matter, and promised to collaborate with the locals to weed out criminals in the area.
“We are in agreement with security teams from Temoyota location Kuresoi North, to work with the community in rooting out criminal gangs responsible for chronic cases of child defilement and intimidating @ngaosKE Officers,” Matiangi said.
He maintained that the safety of minors was extremely important, and non-negotiable.
As cases of rape, defilement and murder escalate in Nakuru County, residents of Karai area in Naivasha were relieved after a criminal identified as ‘machete‘ was arrested on Sunday.
The public reportedly tipped off police officers, and had to lob tear gas on the irate residents, who were baying for Machete’s blood.
“We have recovered a toy pistol, mobile phones and a machete among other items. Five victims have so far identified him,” Naivasha Sub-county Police Commander Samuel Waweru said.
According to the residents, ‘machete’ habitually attacked victims at night, raping women and molesting young girls, and even killing some.
In March, a mutilated body of a woman was found dumped in the area, and residents revealed that it was only one of the many cases they have reported.
Another body of a woman was found decapitated, her bust mutilated, arms and limbs scattered around. They vowed to look for ‘machete’ and finally unmask him.
