Keegan Oyugi: Missing Kenyan-American man found dead

Keegan Oyugi, the 26-year-old Kenyan-American who has been missing since June 12 has been found dead.

Oyugi’s body was found in his crashed car – a red Ford Mustang– off a highway in Minnesota, U.S.

He was last seen leaving the Prior Lake area heading home to St. Bonifacius. Oyugi was driving the Mustang, and is said to have called his brother and informed him that he was on his way home.

“As we await formal identification from the medical examiner’s office, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Keegan Oyugi family,” the police department said in a statement yesterday.

Oyugi, whose family immigrated from Kenya, was a graduate of Crown College. He was a star basketball player and worked for the college’s program.

“We request at this time you continue to pray for the Oyugi family and ask for privacy for the family – this is a really difficult and sad time for them, so let’s keep that in mind and allow them some space and time,” says a notice posted on a Facebook page that mobilised people to search for Keegan Oyugi. “Thank you everyone and let’s continue to uplift Richard, Miriam, Reegan and the entire Oyugi family.”
