Police on Friday, July 1 arrested five suspected bank robbers in Nairobi’s central business district.
The five, only identified as Mulo, Muderwa, Muriuki, Mungai and Njuka, were arrested a few minutes past midnight at a guest house in Angle House within OTC area.
According to a police report filed at Kamukunji Police Station, authorities received a tip-off from a citizen. DCI then followed up on the matter and established that the five were waiting to conduct a raid at Prime Bank, located in the same building, in the wee hours of Friday [today].
When the police raided the guest room, which shares a wall with the bank, they recovered three hacksaws, a ripe, five metal bars, a metal driller, a metal cutter and a suitcase.
One of the suspects, Njuka, has already cut the ceiling and hid in it when he noticed police presence.
