Chief Inspector Anne Wanjiru Waiganjo, attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation is dead.
She collapsed yesterday, July 5th, at a colleague’s farewell party at Baita Restaurant, Upperhill. “She was rushed to Nairobi Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival,” says a police report. “The body is lying at the same facility awaiting to be transferred to Kenyatta University Mortuary.”
Wanjiru, who was in-charge of DCI Karen had been accused of bigamy – Waiganjo, was accused of bigamy (the offense of marrying someone else while legally married), an offence that attracts a sentence of up to five years in prison.
Wanjiru however refuted these claims saying that her first marriage had never existed. The two officers she was alleged to be involved with were named as Inspector David Murimi, and Prison Officer David Mbitu.
