A police officer has been shot dead in his car at a police station’s parking lot in Kasarani, Nakuru County.
Sergeant Joseph Ologe who reported the incident at the Nakuru Police Station, revealed that he found the deceased, police constable John Ongweno dead in his car at around 2:30am on Sunday.
According to the police report under registration OB 20/5/7/2021, the deceased’s car, a Toyota Corolla under registration plate KBV 735 U appeared suspicious, with the driver’s window screen broken and the engine running.
“He peeped inside and saw the car owner NO. 104550 PC JOHN OGWENO lying on the car seat with blood oozing from the nose,” part of the report stated.
Nakuru police bosses visit scene
Police bosses in the County, led by D/SCPC Nakuru East, SCCIO Nakuru East and OCS Nakuru visited the scene of crime and confirmed that Ongweno had passed away.
They suspected that he was shot on the right side of his head and bled to death.
After scavenging the scene, the officers recovered one empty Cartridge of 9 mm. A stone suspected to have been used to smash the car window and an iron bar was also found. The items will be used as exhibits in the case.
“The Firearm issued to the deceased Ceaska pistol S/NO. 94676 is missing,” the report further stated.
CSI personnel documented the scene, as investigations into the recovery of the pistol were launched. “Progress report to follow,” read the report.
