Suspect behind shooting of officers at Quivers Lounge surrenders

Man caught by CCTV footage shooting at police officers at an entertainment joint on Monday, July 5 surrendered to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Dickson Njanja Mararo, was identified as the suspect in the shooting incident at Quivers Lounge along Thika Road on Friday, July 2.

Accompanied by his lawyer Cliff Ombeta, Mararo was taken through an interrogation session by the Serious Crimes detectives.

“A Glock semi-automatic pistol and 38 rounds of 9mm ammunition, were recovered from the suspect,” DCI said.

Ombeta said Mararo’s actions had been borne out of a lack of choice after he found the two police officers hovering over ‘his’ woman. As if not enough, he allegedly approached the joint’s security guard who reportedly did not offer much help.

“As you can see in the clip, he came with the bouncer and you can see the officers confronting the bouncer and trying to attack my client. We can say the rest is history,” Ombeta said.

One of the police officers he allegedly shot was discharged from hospital, while the other colleague and the woman are still in hospital.

DCI said that Mararo would be arraigned in court on charges of attempted murder.
