Boda Boda riders have been on the spotlight after videos of robbers using motorcycles as robbery aids continue to surface on the internet.
Last night DCI gunned down three robbers riding a motorcycle in Buru Buru, Nairobi County.
“The Buruburu-based officers had spotted three suspicious men riding on an unmarked motorcycle along Outer Ring roadway past curfew hours, who sped off after they were beckoned to stop,” DCI says.
The officers chased them up until Saika stage, where the robbers abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot.
This prompted the security officers to call for backup from their Kayole and Obama counterparts who assisted in the chase.
“Their scamper from the unabating officers came to an unceremonious end when a backup team of officers from Obama & Kayole stations ambushed them at the Mwengenye-Dandora bridge,” DCI said.
Multiple layers of clothing
According to the investigative agency, the robbers refused to surrender, and one of them, dressed in jungle tactical gear took out a pistol and pointed at the officers.
Swiftly, the officers shot at them, killing them.
Crime Scene Investigations detectives documented the scene and recovered the robber’s firearm loaded with two rounds of ammo, and a Somali dagger.
The suspects were reportedly clad in multiple layers of clothing. “Detectives believe it is a new style being adopted by criminal gangs, to dispose of the outer clothing after fleeing the crime scenes, hence reducing chances of their trail,” DCI said.
