The tallying process in Kiambaa by-election has been halted after Jubilee Party candidate Kariri Njama and his supporters alleged vote-rigging Friday morning, July 16.
Provisional results had put United Democratic Alliance’s (UDA) candidate Njuguna Wanjiku in the lead with 21,606 votes, with Njama coming second with 21,151 votes. This accounted for 153 out of the total 154 polling stations in the constituency.
The Jubilee candidate, however, protested the results claiming that ballots in the last three polling stations of Gachie, Mucatha and Kawaida were being rigged in favour of UDA’s Wanjiku.
Njama and his supporters are demanding the Kiambaa Returning Officer Peter Muigai order a recount in the three polling stations.
