A suspected gangster was on Tuesday morning, July 20 shot dead by police officers in Kasarani, Nairobi County.
The armed thug had reportedly accosted a pedestrian on her way to work at Season’s Bus Stop, before trying to escape by jumping on a getaway motorbike that sped off.
The proverbial 40 days of a thief had reached for the suspect, however, as the rider of the motorbike panicked after realising that a police vehicle was fast approaching.
“The motorcycle began wobbling on the road. The armed pillion passenger fell off the beleaguered bike landing on the tarmac with a thud!” says the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Even after being cornered, the suspect refused to surrender. “[He] began firing at the Police vehicle that had screeched to a halt. His mistake turned costly. It only took the response from one of the officers aboard the truck to immobilize the miscreant, injuring him fatally.”
His body was removed to City Mortuary pending identification.
