Four families in Kiharu, Murang’a County, are mourning after four women were hit by a vehicle that lost control on Sunday evening, July 22 along Murang’a- Kangema Road.
The vehicle was said to have been driven by some youth who escaped after the accident and are still at large.
The youngster had reportedly taken his parent’s car without permission to go for a spin when he lost control, ramming into a group of women who were on their way home from a church meeting.
In the 5 pm accident, one of the women died on the spot while three others succumbed at Murang’a County Referral Hospital while undergoing treatment.
Some of the victims escaped unhurt after the vehicle coming from the Kangema direction lost control around Hilltop village.
The driver of the vehicle fled from the scene after he feared being attacked by locals who rushed to attend to the accident victims.
The vehicle was towed to Murang’a Police Station even as investigations continue.
