Police last night shot dead two suspected robbers in Eastleigh, Nairobi County.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), says the two were among six who attempted to steal from Jamarat Hardware along Fourth Street. The gang had reportedly arrived in a pickup truck.
Police responded to reports of the ongoing robbery and attempted to arrest the suspects. It was then that an exchange of fire ensued.
“The officers responded decisively, leaving in their wake two gangsters fatally injured. The four others who escaped are thanking heavens after getting away miraculously, but with their bodies riddled by gunshot wounds,” DCI says in a statement posted on social media.
A pistol with three rounds of 9mm ammunition, claw bars and other crude weapons were recovered from the scene. Two water tanks that the thugs had managed to pluck from the hardware were also recovered.
Detectives say they have launched a manhunt for the four escapees arrest “while putting other criminals on notice, that the fight against crime will only get intense!”
