Nakuru police smash car theft syndicate, arrest two suspects

Police in Nakuru have arrested two suspects in connection with a series of car thefts within the region.

John Kimani, 27, and Samuel Kamau, 35, are said to be operating within the town’s CBD targeting parked vehicles.

Nakuru East sub-County Deputy Police Commander Phanton Analo said officers have been trailing the suspects after following leads into their hideouts.

Over 20 disabled motor vehicle tracking devices, number plate, five ignition car keys, and wheel caps, were recovered from the suspects’ hideout at Tumsifu, Lanet area.

Analo said the recovery of tracking devices indicate that over 20 motor vehicles have been stolen by the duo in the last one year, adding that they have deployed officers to uncover the syndicate.

Analo pointed out that the gang have been targeting luxury vehicles, with the latest being a Toyota Landcruiser Prado whose number plate was recovered.
