A 33-year-old man has been arrested over the death of a lady he had allegedly booked a room with at a lodging in Nairobi CBD.
John Chapia Natili, a security warden at Bulls-K Lodge along Keekorok Road, claims the suspect, Martin Ngobu Njathi walked into the facility at around 7 pm on Friday, July 30, in the company of a woman and both reportedly checked into Room No. 117.
At around 5 am on Saturday, July 31 Njathi allegedly wanted to check out of the lodging facility alone.
Suspect checks out of lodging alone
The curious security guard questioned him on why he wanted to check out alone, yet he checked in with a lady.
“The reportee informed him that the regulations of the premises are that they were to check out both of them the way they booked in,” reads a police report.
The guard asked Njathi to accompany him back to the hotel room where they found the lady lying naked on the bed “appearing to be in deep sleep.”
“They tried to wake her up but she was not responding to any touch or sound,” the police report continues.
Natili immediately called police officers from Central Police Station who visited the scene and confirmed death of the woman. She was allegedly bleeding from her private parts.
Her body was moved to City Mortuary as Njathi was arrested and taken into custody at Central Police Station.
