Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a musician/contractor.
Barasa was picked by police at his rural home within the constituency this morning.
Last Friday, Barasa was caught on video slapping Steve Kay. The venue was Baptist Lurare Primary School in Kamukuywa ward. Barasa had arrived to commission five new classrooms built through Constituency Development Fund.
Kay (other name Stephen Masinde), and Ronald Graham Wafula had reportedly locked the newly constructed classrooms over alleged non-payment of KSh3.4 million for their work. They demanded to be paid before they could open the classrooms and hand over the keys.
A scuffle ensued leading to the MP slapping Kay on the face. He reported the assault at Kimilili Police Station, and was subsequently issued with a P3 form. Kay also sought treatment at Kimilili Hospital.
Barasa is likely to face charges for assault and causing grievous bodily harm.
