National Super Alliance (NASA) has formally been dissolved after three affiliate parties exited the coalition.
Musalia Mudavadi’s ANC, Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper, and Moses Wetangula’s Ford Kenya on Tuesday morning, August 3 formally wrote to Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu, informing her of the decision to quit the coalition.
Article 15(1) of the NASA Coalition Agreement, dictated that the political outfit could only be dissolved after any three of the coalition parties decided to leave.
According to the three co-principals, they decided to dissolve NASA over mistrust towards ODM’s Raila Odinga.
“Political party coalitions are built on trust. Once that trust is eroded, the partnership cannot survive. Mindful of this trust deficit, our three parties, transparently informed the Kenyan people of their individual decision to leave the NASA Coalition,” ANC, Wiper and Ford Kenya said in a joint statement.
According to Kalonzo, “We have officially dissolved the National Super Alliance (NASA) and now ready, willing and geared towards forming a coalition that will carry the aspirations of all Kenyans: The ONE KENYA ALLIANCE.”
