Police in Migori County have launched investigations into the death of a secondary school girl in Nyarongi Mixed Secondary School in Suna East Sub County.
The Form Four student allegedly committed suicide using a piece of cloth in the dormitory on Wednesday morning.
Area Assistant Chief George Owiti revealed that the 20-year-old had allegedly exhibited symptoms of depression a few days before, and severally threatened to kill herself.
Her friends reportedly kept her company on Tuesday night, allegedly to prevent her from actualizing her threats.
On Wednesday morning, the deceased allegedly went for a counselling session with one of her teachers as her parents were on their way to pick her up.
However when the teacher left momentarily to get some breakfast, the girl rushed to the dormitory and hang herself using a piece of cloth.
The incident reportedly occurred while other students were doing their Continous Assessment Tests. Police are yet to establish why she killed herself.
