- The Muranga Women Rep seemed to have forged a new friendship with Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua.
- Prior to this, Sabina and Waiguru were seen as close allies.
Murang’a Women Rep Sabina Chege has found a new political buddy in Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, if their latest public appearance is anything to go by.
The two seem to have forged a friendship in the past few weeks.
Karua is Governor Anne Waiguru’s political nemesis since the hotly contested 2017 Kirinyaga Gubernatorial duel in which the latter won. This was followed by numerous court battles after Karua contested the election results. She has also been critical of Waiguru’s administration.
On the other hand, Sabina Chege has been a close friend of Waiguru and they are among the team that is supporting President Uhuru kenyatta- popularly known as Kieleweke.
They were the lead members of the women caucus- Team Embrace, which brought together elected women leaders who support the handshake between President Uhuru Kenya and ODM leader Raila Odinga. Together, the team traversed the country championing for the BBI-driven constitutional amendments.
During Waiguru’s traditional wedding with husband, constitutional lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo,in 2019 Sabina was among among the Kikuyu traditional bridesmaids who graced the event.
Karua, Sabina political ‘unity’
Last week, Karua and Sabina together with TSP party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri and other mount Kenya leaders made a press conference about the unity of Mt Kenya region ahead of 2022 elections.
Yesterday, Sabina and Karua were together for a fundraiser at Bishop Gatimu Catholic Church in Kinyona, Muranga County, where ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi was the chief guest.
Karua, popularly know as the Iron Lady of Politics, advocated for Sabina to be the next governor of Murangá.
“Mama county amefanya kazi mzuri ambayo inaonekana, mumpee nafasi ya Muranga County, atawafanyia kazi with integrity [Sabina has done tremendous work as woman rep. It’s now time that you give her a chance to be your governor…She will serve you with integrity],” Karua said during the fundraiser.
