Former lieutenant in Rwanda’s army has been gunned down in Mozambique. Revocant Karemangingo fled after President Paul Kagame’s Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) took power after the 1994 genocide.
He became a prominent businessman, dealing in pharmaceuticals. He’s believed to have been secretly involved in Rwanda’s politics.
His mysterious death is not the first one to happen to a prominent person perceived to be an enemy of the Rwandan establishment.
In May, 1998, Seth Sendashonga former Interior Minister was gunned down in Nairobi.
Last February, Rwandan opposition politician Seif Bamporiki was killed in Cape Town, South Africa. He was the coordinator of the Rwanda National Congress (RNC).
In January, 2014, former Head of Intelligence Patrick Karegeya was found dead inside his hotel room at the upmarket Michelangelo Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa.
