- MP Babu Owino describes DJ Evolve’s mother as “a mother to me, and a friend.”
- He acknowledges that even though they were united by a difficult situation, they have grown very close.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has joined DJ Evolve’s family in mourning his mother, Mary Hongo.
In an emotional tribute few hours after Hongo’s death broke, Owino described her as a “mother to me, and a friend.”
“We were united through a difficult situation, we had grown so close but God has His own reasons why this had to happen,” the legislator said.
He went on to condole with the family, saying that her legacy will live on throughout their lives.
“To my friend Felix and your family, I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through. May God grant you peace, strength and comfort to go through this difficult moment in your lives,” Owino adds.
While recalling valuable lessons learnt from the deceased, Owino has promised to take them up at this time.
“Mum You always told us to be strong no matter how big the storm is and to always put God first. Rest In Peace Mum till we meet again,” he says.
Hongo died on Wednesday evening, reportedly while doing house chores at her Nairobi’s Lucky Summer home.
The 54-year-old has been taking care of her son, who became bedridden after he was shot by Babu Owino at a local club in January 2020.
She once said in an interview that she quit her job to take care of Evolve.
The local deejay is said to have collapsed after getting news of his mother’s death.
