ODM leader Raila Odinga is a happy man.
Being a “life member” supporter of English Premier League club Arsenal, Raila was over the moon on Sunday evening after The Gunners won an intense North London derby against arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Speaking during a meeting with a group of youth leaders in Nairobi, Raila said that like the rest of Arsenal FC fans across the world, he is happy that Manchester United received a beating from Aston Villa, and that their happiness will be doubled if Arsenal would go on to beat Hotspurs on Sunday evening.
“Huyu ananialika Man U, namwambia jana (Saturday) mliona Aston Villa. Walisalimu nyinyi sana. Mimi ni a life member wa Arsenal, leo tutapigana na Tottenham,”he said.
The former prime minister was responding after one of the youth leaders had invited him to Manchester United FC as a fan.
Arsenal gave Tottenham Hotspur a beating in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium, winning 3-0 to move up to 10th, leapfrogging their rivals.
The home side took the lead through Emile Smith Rowe’s close-range finish.
Spurs failed to mount any sort of response and the Gunners extended their lead on the counter-attack, Aubameyang and Smith Rowe linking up to see the Gabonese forward fire in the second before Bukayo Saka made it three after a driving run into the box.
