In Summary

  • Isaack Hassan, 24, has been named as the main suspect in the theft of new motorcycles around the country.
  • DCI says the motorbikes are usually ferried to north eastern counties and sold to bandits.

Detectives have identified Isaack Hassan as the main suspect behind the disappearance of new motorcycles in various parts of the country.

The sleuths allegedly recovered more than 350 logbooks, assorted sales agreements, motorcycle number plates and assorted delivery notes at his house in Moyale Town.

During the Sunday evening hunt, they arrested the 24-year-old and his accomplice Mohammed Ibrahim, 24, as they attempted to escape.

Their arrest comes just two weeks after another raid conducted in Nairobi’s Eastleigh led to the recovery of dozens of new bikes.

Starehe-based detectives retrieved them from a warehouse in Industrial Area. They had followed a trail after a motorbike was reported missing in Western region.

“Detectives have established that motorbikes stolen from various parts of the country, find their way to the upper eastern and north eastern counties where they’re sold to bandits for a song,” DCI adds.
