Bungoma man arrested for allegedly stabbing rival to death in fight over a woman

In Summary

  • Titus Wamalwa and Oliver Wafula were fighting over a woman identified as ‘Njeri’.
  • The deadly contest had started on Sunday night, spewing into Monday morning.

Police in Bumula, Bungoma County, are holding a suspect who allegedly stabbed his love rival on the chest, killing him.

Titus Wamalwa died after he was allegedly attacked by Oliver Wafula with a kitchen knife on Monday morning.

The two were fighting over a woman identified only as “Njoki.”

The two had been jostling over Njoki’s heart for the better part of Sunday night, culminating in the tragedy. “

“In the encounter staged at Njoki’s house, the suspect behind the killing suffered powerful punches from the deceased, who is rumoured by to have been an amateur pugilist,” says the Directorate of Criminal Investigations. “On the verge of defeat, the suspect suddenly reached for a kitchen knife in the house and drove it deep into his opponent’s chest, killing him on the spot.”

Search for Stabbing Suspect

Wafula immediately went into hiding following the incident. Detectives cordoned off Kimwanga market and arrested the suspect before he could flee. “The blood-stained kitchen knife used in the killing was also recovered from the woman’s house and shall be produced in court as a key exhibit against the suspect.

“What began as a simple argument to win the love and affection of a woman, has left the suspect in serious conflict with the long arm of the law,” adds DCI.
