Police in Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County, on Wednesday arrested a man suspected of killing his girlfriend.
Kennedy Nyamu is accused of attacking Edith Muthoni, 27, on Tuesday evening, inflicting a deep cut on the back of her head.

According to Kerugoya County Referral Hospital manager Norman Gitari, the victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition by a well-wisher. The medical staff’s efforts to save her life proved futile as she succumbed to her injuries. The hospital manager thereafter alerted police.
“Investigations were immediately instituted leading to the arrest of the deceased’s boyfriend as the key suspect into the murder most foul. The suspect led detectives to the location of the murder at Kianjege village, where they spent the better part of the night combing the scene for more clues into the heinous crime,” the DCI says.
The suspect is currently in custody assisting detectives with investigations into the murder, before being arraigned in court to answer to his crimes.
