Young taxi rider’s honesty pays off after returning KSh5.5 million collected on highway

A teenage taxi rider is now KSh166,000 richer following his selfless act.

Emmanuel Tolue, a rider from Liberia came across KSh5.5 million reportedly belonging to a prominent businesswoman in north-eastern Nimba County.

According to BBC, Tolue found the money wrapped in a plastic bag along a highway, coincidentally at the same time when the owner, Musu Yancy, was making a radio appeal to anyone who came across the money to return it.

Rider meets KSh5.5 million owner

The young man contacted her immediately and met with her in the presence of local administrators.

An excited Yancy said she awarded the young man KSh166,275 and other gifts for his kindness.

“She was so happy and relieved about getting the money back she has almost lost her voice thanking God,” BBC adds.

For a country that has been through years of civil war, Tolue’s act has left citizens in awe.
