A woman in Ruiru Sub County, Kiambu County is nursing a stab wound on her neck following an attack by an unknown assailant allegedly intending to steal her infant.

Grace Gitonga, who hails from Wataalam Village says the stranger broke into their house on Tuesday in the wee hours of the night.

“I do not even know how he managed to get in. He came straight at me and stabbed me in the neck,” the mother of one narrates.

At the time, her husband Collins Otieno was asleep and was awoken by his wife’s distress call.

Wound on her neck

“I woke up shocked and asked her what kind of dream she was having. That is when I saw her face covered in blood and noticed the wound on her neck. She responded screaming, Mtoto wangu! Mtoto wangu!” Otieno recalls the horrific experience.

He saw the attacker and ran after him but did not catch up with him. Otieno says he was shocked to find the main gate wide open at the time.

Gitonga claims the man wanted to steal her young child.

“I saw him. He looks like a very young man. He had no teeth, was of average height and was slim,” Gitonga describes.

Residents claims cases of insecurity have been on the rise in the area, as two women were allegedly killed in a similar fashion barely two weeks prior to the incident.
