- The NPS has dismissed reports that IG Mutyambai is sick.
- NPS says Mutyambai was on official duty in DRC.
The National Police Service (NPS) on Sunday dismissed claims that Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai is sick.
There were reports that IG Mutyambai had collapsed and rushed to hospital for treatment, reports that NPS now says are false.
According to NPS, the police boss had travelled to DRC where he participated in the 23rd Annual General Meeting for Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO).
“…NPS wishes to clarify and assure Kenyans that the IG is fine, healthy and on duty. The IG returned into the country this morning after a tour of duty in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo [DRC],” says NPS.
The Kenyan delegation was led by Mr Wilson Njenga, Secretary of Security in the Ministry of Interior and National Coordination.
“Such reckless, malicious and unverified reporting should be ignored with contempt,” adds NPS.
