Kenya has seen unprecedented transformation under President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, this is according to Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking at Wang’uru Stadium in Kirinyaga County during the Mashujaa Day celebrations, DP Ruto said that Jubilee Government had done a good job in bettering the lives of Kenyans in the last nine years.
Ruto, who has on numerous occasions slammed his own government for backtracking on its promises to Kenyans and engaging in non issues like the BBI, lauded the President Uhuru-led government for initiating people-driven developmental projects.
“The last nine years has seen unprecedented transformation in our country. From the SGR, to the almost 11,000KM of new tarmac, to the almost 8 million people connected to electricity, to all the transformation in our education sector. Your excellency, your place in the history of Kenya is not only secure but is prominent,” said DP Ruto, amid cheers from the crowd in the newly-built stadium.
In a classic way of impressing the Mt Kenya electorates present at the stadium and those following the proceedings from their homes, DP Ruto assured President Uhuru that he will build on his legacy to catapult the country to the next level economically if he succeeds him in 2022.
“Your legacy will set the standard for the leaders that will come after you. I want to give you my assurance, myself and my competitors here (referring to fellow presidential hopefuls Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Gideon Moi), that we will build on the legacy you have set. We will ensure that nothing you leave behind is left uncomplete, we will build on it and ensure Kenya moves to the next level,” he assured.
Ruto also pledged to make sure that Uhuru’s legacy (which according to Ruto is the agenda of unity he has set and the transformation the country has seen under the Big Four plan), together with his “bottom-up approach”, “will take this country to greater heights.”
